First Presbyterian Church
One of our many projects at First Presbyterian Church was the complete renovation of the Christian education wing, including a large area for weekday childcare. The church’s leaders first requested plans for building a new classroom wing, but by evaluating the church’s needs and the building itself, we discovered the new addition was unnecessary. Our design included moving closets and walls and the result is a bright, cheerful grouping of well-equipped, secure classrooms in a variety of sizes to accommodate changing demographics.
New Choir Room
The new choir room is designed in tiered layers that make it possible for musicians to both see and hear the music director for optimum participation and performance. Window wells, chair curbs and safety rails are worked into the design of the room, complimenting the space.
Elementary School Classrooms
Designed to withstand an active learning environment, the elementary classrooms feature tack and dry erase boards with frames using historic moldings integrated into the original wood trim. Period lighting fixtures offer efficient, modern lamp technology, and the art and craft area boasts an easy-to-clean vinyl tile floor.
Elementary School Classroom
A restored historic fireplace surround grounds the lively elementary classroom that includes built-in cabinetry for storage and a sink for art projects and cleanup. A mix of durable carpet and washable vinyl floor finishes provides the perfect low-maintenance flooring solution.
