Located on Penn Square, Lancaster’s most prominent location, Shot & Bottle serves as an example of the perfect adaptive reuse. This highly anticipated watering hole now open, resides on the first floor of the 1924-built Griest Building - listed on the National Register of Historic Places - and was comprehensively remodeled from the former bank space to preserve historic design features including the restored marble floor and plaster details. However, the bronze entry doors and glass canopies designed by HAA bring this C. Emlen Urban designed building into the 21st Century. While the clean modern and industrial aesthetic on the interior can be contributed partly to the owner-hand-crafted steel bar top, table tops and shelving; homage is paid to the original history of this location with the placement of globe lighting and hairpin chairs, cleverly converting this space from a serious workplace to a glorious escape.
