West Chester Municipal Building & Police Station Renovation

The 27,500 square foot renovation of the existing municipal building allowed the mayor, administration, building codes, zoning, finance, and parking offices to remain in the heart of West Chester while correcting building code and accessibility deficiencies and redesigning the existing spaces for a more efficient layout.

The West Chester Sustainability Advisory Committee awarded the completed renovation the Gold West Chester Sustainable! Certification which recognized the sustainable design features incorporated into the project such as water saving plumbing fixtures, LED lighting, improvements to the building envelope, exterior rain gardens and electric vehicle charging stations.

Public Meeting Room

When the return on investment of window replacement proved to not be financially prudent, we retained the existing 1990 era teal aluminum window frames, creating the basis for a new color palette. The new dais, architectural lighting, and playful carpet make this public space more inviting.

Evidence Processing Room

The West Chester Police department, utilizing 13,850 square feet on the building's first floor, was completely redesigned and updated to meet current accreditation requirements. Improvements included a new evidence processing room with a fume hood and pass-through evidence lockers.

Police Locker Room

A much needed redesign, these new lockers gave officers the space needed for their personal equipment. Our design allows for future department expansion in the duty bag and locker room areas, up to 40 additional officers.

Administration Area

The work included a complete renovation throughout the entire building, re-configuring spaces for better utilization and selecting new finishes and systems to give the environment a new life.
